Fruit Tree Giveaway for Neighbors

Our vision is to help neighbors, neighborhoods and communities towards food self sufficiency and community growth. Because of this, and we have TOO MANY fruit trees in our nursery stock right now, we intend to give 40-50 away in groups of 10 trees per neighborhood.

The process.

  1. Share this with your neighbors!

  2. Create a common name for your neighborhood group in the field where it asks it. For Example: Winthrop Circle Neighbors, or 138th x 45th, etc

  3. Have everyone fill out the base portion of our questionnaire.

  4. Create a list of trees you would like from the following: Peaches, Apples, Pears, Plums.

  5. Create a simple list of which trees are going to what addresses AND WHERE ON THE SITE. Email that list and any agreements on (A) who is going to do fruit tree plantings, (B) who is going to care, harvest, and fruit sharing to info@eatyouryard.com by March 1st. We will have them delivered to you soon after that.

    1. NOTE: Most trees need a pollinizer, so pairs of trees are typically more ideal. Also, Dwarf Trees need 8-10’ Radius of space, and Semi-Dwarfs need 12-15’ in between. So make sure they won’t imepede pathways, be too close to the house, or drop fruit on parked cars. Most trees like Full Sun to Half Day sun. Both make good canopies for “Food forests” so you can plant things like honeyberry, currants underneath,

    2. These trees are Multi-branched 4-6+ feet tall, and valued at $50-75+. We will select 3-5 neighborhoods that show interest and social capital to make a list of which trees go where. Any details on the who is going to plant, maintain, and harvest/process/share fruit will strengthen your questionnaire “application”

  6. If you are intersted in us taking care of the trees, please note that on the questionnaire
