We are a company looking to build community with whomever we work.  This is an unpaid internship with the possibility of becoming a part time hourly position as the season progresses and our work level increases.  This depends on CEL’s workload and your demonstration of capacity.

Along with your resume please send cover letter which addresses the following questions:

• What inspires you about CEL?
• How will CEL serve you?
• What experience do you want to gain?

o    Talk about specific aspects of CEL you are interested in learning/Experience you would like to gain: Plant Propagation, labor,  irrigation, Marketing, Promotion,  website, etc

• What do you bring?

o    Skills, Past experience (even semi) related to CEL mission/goals?

o    Your Strengths, Passions, etc.

o    Aspects of yourself you would like to grow.

• Schedule How many (and which) Hours Per week are you interested in investing in CEL? ________
• Please tell us anything else about yourself you’d like to share, and feel free to ask us anything.

Intern TO DO list 2011

1. Greenhouse

a.       Greenhouse Site: clearing and Filling Up with plants —January/February

b.      Plant Propagation of Perennials  & Herbs (January-March)

c.       Plant Propagation of Annuals (February- June [summer too])

i.      Planting/Packing Parties.   1 Each per quarter

d.      Maintenance:  seedling,  thinning, watering, potting-up etc  February-June (summer too)

i.      Keeping Site orderly (all year)

2. CSPS

a.       Program Support (1 person-2-5 hours/week)

i.      Sales /Communications: finding community leaders to champion the program for us.

ii.      Setting up drop off sites (Capitol Hill, Queen Anne, Wallingford, Maple Leaf)

iii.      Newsletter Development (1 person, 4-6 hours per season)

3. Education/Consultation –

a.       Help Putting together consultation packets  and plant lists (1 person – 1 day) mpiling plant lis

4.       Landscape Construction/Garden Maintenance (pruning, irrigation, cistern, building beds, sod cutting, etc)

a.       Must be in good physical shape, be able to lift 40lbs

b.      Compensated Labor on projects you find.

5. Marketing, Outreach Up to 10 hours/week.

a.       Special Tabling and Networking  Events

b.      Website Updates, development, polishing

i.      Video, Slideshow, info,  Viral Marketing

c. **Garden Node Facilitation:  Contact community groups and help CEL Staff with Meeting organization/facilitation

d.      Farmers Markets Support with CEL Staff & youth intern

i.       (1x/week, 12 week Commitment March-early June)

6. Just Garden Project/ Spring into Bed (May 14^th 20111)

a. ”Sod Cutting Spree(s)” (Dates TBA)  –

b.      Work with JGP manager to implement strategy & develop event where people build gardens across the city in a coordinated effort.

c.       Connect with people from different agencies/companies

d.      Champion a Garden  & Support a low income gardener: Fundraise and help build garden on day of event

We have Greenhouse #1 up and are in the process of putting up #2–want to learn how it’s done (aka help)?

We will be hosting (bi) weekly work parties on-site with friends and interns throughout the From February-September.  These are potluck style and we like to have music.  Generally they last between 3-5 hours.  Please contact [...]]]>
