CEL’s mission is to create abundant and beautiful spaces that foster food community, food justice, and food sovereignty of the region. We feel that our CSA for edible plant starts is at the heart of our business because it supports new and seasoned gardeners in growing more food through providing seasonally and regionally appropriate plant starts. Here is some praise from one our members:

“This is exciting! So glad you’ve upgraded and enhanced this wonderful business…looking forward to choosing my veggies! And by the way…most of everything you have chosen for this area does really well in my garden….I usually get amazing veggies (unlike other veggies I get from other places.) This is such a great thing for Seattle”. – M.M.

Our goal is to have 100 members (or subscribed flats) this year. At this number the program will be sustainable. As of today we have 59 flats going out. This is a wonderful improvement to last year but we still have a long way to go to reach our goal. Until we reach 100 flat, our CSPS is partially subsidized by other aspects of our business. Please help us reach that goal by either subscribing or spreading the word.

We have created a flyer that you can download from our website. We would appreciate any posting of this around town by our wonderful community – you!

For a reasonable upfront fee, we get you the plants that want to be planted according to the NW Maritime Planting calendar. In Early Spring we start broccoli, kale, cabbage, cauliflower, etc. In late spring and early summer, we’ll supply tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, and other heat-loving crops. In August, when you should plant Brussel Sprouts and Fall Brocoli, we’ll get you those. In essence, we provide quality plant starts and a path towards year around vegetable production. Also, in purchasing a continual supply of plant starts, we can offer you discounts over retail prices.
